Peter Cunningham and I just got back from an exhuasting but yet enjoyable weekend in Miami teaching a seminar at the Team Karate Center in Aventura, Florida.
The weekend was filled with hours of demonstrations from katas to breaking bricks as we sat and watched along with master Fariborz Azhakh, sensei Nina Azhakh and sensei Jason Lau. We also visited the famous South Beach and chilled there drinking mojitos and taking in the sites.
The seminar on monday night had a great turnout in which Peter and I saw potential fighters in both the MMA and Muay Thai world.
A huge thanks goes out to Jarett Peremutter and everyone at Team Karate Centers for an awesome weekend in which Im looking foward to repeat next year.
I got a new tatto of my last name on my back this week at Rantz’s Needle Pushers in Van Nuys, Ca. The artwork was done by Remy Avagi and inked by Huero.
As for the rest of the year I plan to continue training to keep in shape to be ready for Guatemala or anything that pops up before that. I also began teaching the muay thai class at House of Champions in Van Nuys on Monday nights only. In other news, Peter Cunningham and I will be flying to Florida next month to teach a seminar.
Im sorry to announce my fight in Guatemala has been postponed till March of 2009. The outdoor location has suffered due to a tropical storm. The promoter tried to relocate the event to another location but was unsuccessful since time is too short to move a promotion that held 7,000 spectators. Both Bryce Papenbrook, another fighter that was to fight on the show, and I are dissapointed at the outcome but I do have some good news that I will write about in my next post. Until the, have a great weekend !!
Ive been training for this upcoming fight in Guatemala for the last 2 and a half months. Training has been going very well and I am pleased to have made an addition to the team with a new strength trainer, Robin Sriampai; I had been missing that aspect of my training the last few years and now have seen first hand what a difference this addition has made, both physically and mentally. With less than 20 days left till the fight I have now picked up the pace for sparring and running to keep my body very familiar with the sense of anaerobic bursts of combinations.
As for my website, I am pleased to have it back online and have to admit I was lagging a bit in doing so because I was busy doing other things. I hope you all are please with the new design and would like to let you all know photos and videos will be added after the fight as well as more info on private training.
WBC Muay Thai at the San Manuel Casino May 1, 2008
My next fight will be at the San Manuel Casino on May 1, 2008 against Freddie Medrano at 145 lbs.
On another note I was invited as a guest to the Hyefighters UFC Fight Night Dinner Party to show support to our Armenian MMA fighters Karo Parisyan, Roman Mitichyan & Manny Gamburyan.

What a night … I attended the WBC Muay Thai event even though I wasnt fighting to show some support to the sport and of all things that can happen … the entire show gets cancelled 45 minutes after everyone gets seated. It turned out the promoter overlooked a compliance when holding an sports event so the Athletic Commision cancelled the event. Kevin Dowell, a fellow fighter from my gym was to have his amateur debut tonight !!! What luck huh ?

My fight against Josh Palmer for the WBC US Title has been cancelled due to my opponent failing the medical requirements for the California Athletic Commision. The promoter was unsuccessful in finding a last minute replacement.

I am proud to announce that I won the fight unanimously at the San Manuel Casino. It was a 4 round full rules muay thai rematch against Joe Sarkissian.
For those of you who didnt make it to the event you missed out but thanks for the phone calls. More info can be found at www.thefightgame.tv ; and as for the video, you will all have to wait til it gets edited.
I appreciate everyone who helped me get ready for this fight and look forward in putting on more great performances in the future. A special thanks goes out to Araz at Hyefighters.com for keeping up to date on his informative website that portrays Armenian fighters around the globe.
So whats next ? A week off perhaps .. In the meantime I will update you on anything that comes up.
